About the role
The University of Miami’s College of Arts and Sciences is seeking a full‑time Research Associate 1 to join the Clarke Lab in the Department of Biology. The role focuses on evolutionary and developmental biology research aimed at uncovering the mechanisms behind animal multicellularity.
Key responsibilities
- Design, perform, and analyze experiments on tissue formation in cnidarian embryos.
- Apply techniques such as immunofluorescence, in situ hybridization, advanced light microscopy, and genetic/molecular analyses.
- Collect, prepare, and evaluate specimens or tissue cultures.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, order supplies, and ensure compliance with standard lab practices.
- Assist with data interpretation, figure preparation, manuscript drafting, and mentor graduate/undergraduate students.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
- Experience conducting laboratory experiments and handling tissue cultures.
- Ability to work independently under the guidance of a Principal Investigator.
- Strong organizational skills for managing lab operations and resources.
