Research Assistant Professor – Pediatrics (Neonatology)

About the role

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine seeks a full‑time, non‑tenure‑track Research Assistant Professor in Neonatology. The incumbent will focus on expanding the clinical research program through neonatal genomics, multi‑omics, and genetics of rare pediatric diseases.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead original basic and translational research projects, seeking extramural funding.
• Design, conduct, and analyze experiments using patient‑derived cells and animal models.
• Integrate multi‑omics data (genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics, proteomics, phosphoproteomics, interactome) with traditional techniques to uncover disease mechanisms.
• Collaborate with the principal investigator and lab members on project planning, timing, and execution.
• Prepare manuscripts for peer‑reviewed journals and present findings at scientific meetings.

Required profile

• PhD, MD, or DVM with demonstrated basic, clinical, or translational research experience.
• Strong independent work ethic and ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
