Research Animal Technician I

About the role

The College of Dentistry at Texas A&M University Health Science Center seeks a Research Animal Technician I to support the Dentistry Research department. The role involves routine care of research animals, maintaining laboratory environments, and ensuring compliance with animal welfare regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine handling, cleaning, grooming, feeding, and watering of conventional and specific pathogen‑free (SPF) research animals.
• Monitor animal health and environmental conditions daily and record observations.
• Maintain laboratory, animal care areas and treatment rooms, including cleaning, sanitizing equipment and supplies.
• Follow established protocols and ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations governing laboratory animal care.
• Perform husbandry duties for animal colonies and support research activities in the Dentistry Research department.

Required skills

What we offer

• Hourly wage of $17.78.
• Full‑time schedule Monday‑Friday, 8 am‑5 pm.
