Research Analyst

About the role

The Research Analyst (RA) Program is a two‑year, full‑time position at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, offering the chance to support economic policy and long‑term research alongside senior economists.

Key responsibilities

• Assist economists and senior staff in policy work: download and assemble data, create charts and tables, maintain spreadsheets, perform statistical and econometric analyses, model estimation, simulations, and prepare memos and presentations.
• Support long‑term research projects: conduct literature reviews, archival research, data assembly, analytical modeling, and help write and proofread research articles.
• Rotate across tasks such as preparing briefing documents for the Bank president, senior management, Board of Directors, Blackbook materials for the FOMC cycle, and other research group reports.

Required profile

• Degree in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
• Strong analytical mindset with experience in data analysis.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with statistical/econometric software: R, Stata, Matlab, Julia, SAS, Gauss, TSP, RATS, EViews, PROCSQL.
• Programming experience in languages such as Java, C++, Python.
• Advanced spreadsheet skills and data visualization.
