Reprocessing Educator

About the role

The Reprocessing Educator will plan and deliver education to caregivers in sterile processing, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and Cleveland Clinic quality standards. This position supports the reduction of surgical site infections and improves instrument processing efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and evaluate educational programs based on caregiver knowledge and skill levels.
• Develop and use evaluations to measure the effectiveness of training activities.
• Assist in creating department-specific orientation and competency assessments.
• Coordinate continuing education, training programs, and professional development for staff.
• Consult with Nursing Institute, Surgical Operations, Infection Prevention, and other stakeholders on best practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Education, Healthcare Administration or related field.
• Five years recent sterile processing experience with technical expertise, or six years progressively responsible experience.
• Current sterile processing certification (CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, or CER) and dual certification within 24 months of hire.
• Demonstrated knowledge of AAMI Standards and preceptor training.
• Ability to travel to multiple Cleveland Clinic facilities.

Required skills

• Sterile processing certifications (CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, CER).
• Knowledge of AAMI Standards.
• Proficiency with clinical systems (SPM) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) for training delivery.
• Familiarity with process improvement methodologies and quality assurance measures.
