Remote Workers Compensation Claims Examiner (Virginia Jurisdiction)

About the role

Sedgwick is hiring a Workers Compensation Claims Examiner to analyze Virginia Workers Compensation claims on behalf of its clients. The role determines benefits due and keeps claims adjudicated within service expectations, industry best practice and client requirements. It is fully remote.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and process claims through well-developed action plans to a timely resolution, investigating and gathering information to determine the exposure on the claim.
• Negotiate settlement of claims within designated authority.
• Communicate claim activity and processing with the claimant and the client.
• Report claims to the excess carrier and respond to requests for direction professionally and on time.

Required profile

• 4+ years of claims management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree from an accredited institution preferred.
• Professional certification applicable to the line of business preferred.
• Knowledge of Virginia workers' compensation law.
• Ability to think clearly, judge accurately, troubleshoot and solve problems, handle stress and multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
