Remote DevOps Engineer III (AWS, GitLab, Kubernetes)

About the role

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior AWS DevOps Engineer to work 100% remotely while supporting our client in the Greater Richmond Region. You will design, automate, and deliver cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines, driving technical excellence across modern DevOps environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines for build, test, security, approvals, deployment and release.
• Automate AWS infrastructure and support containerized workloads on Amazon EKS, Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift.
• Partner with Java development teams to improve deployment speed, reliability, security and developer experience.
• Establish DevOps governance by embedding standards and controls into automated workflows.
• Serve as a senior technical resource for architecture decisions and resolve complex cloud, pipeline and infrastructure issues.
• Mentor Level II engineers, document best practices and promote knowledge sharing.
• Support observability, incident response, root‑cause analysis and corrective actions for production issues.

Required profile

• 4+ years of hands‑on AWS DevOps experience.
• 4+ years designing GitLab CI/CD pipelines and reusable templates.
• 4+ years of containerization experience with Kubernetes, Amazon EKS and familiarity with Red Hat OpenShift.
• Proven ability to lead technical governance, mentor peers and collaborate across teams.
