Reliability Engineer

About the role

Rivet is seeking a Reliability Engineer to ensure its integrated task systems perform consistently under real‑world and mission‑critical conditions. You will work across the full product lifecycle, using data, testing, and failure analysis to drive reliability improvements that directly impact product quality and customer trust.

Key responsibilities

• Define and flow down reliability requirements at system and module levels, including government‑driven specifications.
• Lead stress characterization, develop acceleration models, and design accelerated life tests.
• Create reliability test plans, specifications, and procedures, applying Design of Experiments (DOE) to optimize test efficiency.
• Investigate failure mechanisms, perform root‑cause analysis, and produce concise reliability reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Partner with hardware, software, manufacturing, and quality teams to implement reliability improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Materials, Electrical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience in reliability engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design, material behavior, and failure mechanisms, especially in electronics or complex systems.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.

Required skills

• Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Design of Experiments (DOE).
• Development and execution of mechanical, shock, vibration, environmental, and lifecycle reliability tests.
• Use of failure analysis tools such as optical microscopy, X‑ray, CT, SEM, EDX, and FTIR.
• Familiarity with industry standards ASTM, MIL, JEDEC, and IEC.
• Statistical analysis and data‑driven insight generation.
