Regular Security Officer

About the role

The Greenbrier Hotel in White Sulphur Springs is hiring a Regular Security Officer within its Security department. The role covers guest interaction, access control, incident response and safety, and includes fire-fighting and first aid duties. It is a shift-based position with three shifts: 7:00am-3:00pm, 3:00pm-11:00pm and 11:00pm-7:00am.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to fire emergencies as a trained firefighter and to other emergencies, including confined space rescue.
• Answer security calls, incidents and events, and respond to emergency medical calls with first aid.
• Stand an access point post, direct traffic and record and share access information.
• Monitor CCTV, check entering and exiting guests and staff against rules, and activate access controls such as automated gates.
• Ensure guest and employee safety and security, conduct investigations and write clear reports.
• Enforce company policies, drive the department patrol vehicle and operate the fire apparatus in routine and emergency operations.
• Conduct foot and vehicle fire-watch patrols using electronic recording devices.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
• Firefighter, emergency medical service, law enforcement, military or security service experience preferred.
• Current WV Firefighter Level 1 or higher certification, and ability to obtain confined space entry and rescue certification.
• Current basic first aid and CPR certification (e.g., American Red Cross, American Heart Association).
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain American Hotel and Lodging Association Certified Lodging Security Officer certification or an equivalent approved by the Director of Security.
• Ability to handle stressful situations, work independently with minimal supervision, and maintain a professional appearance.

Required skills

• Clear verbal communication in English, by radio, telephone and in writing.
• Report writing skills.
• Basic computer skills: word processing and spreadsheets (Excel) at beginner level, typing and data entry at beginner level.
