Registration Specialist

About the role

The Registration Specialist coordinates patient registration, insurance verification, and scheduling to ensure smooth clinical flow and accurate financial clearance. This position interacts with patients both in‑person and by phone, providing a welcoming experience while gathering essential demographic and insurance information.

Key responsibilities

• Interview patients using open‑ended questions to collect demographic, insurance, and clinical data.
• Verify and complete referring provider orders, obtaining new orders when necessary.
• Scan insurance cards, scripts, IDs, and regulatory forms accurately.
• Secure required signatures for consents and reimbursement.
• Determine patient financial liability, create estimates, and refer to financial counseling as needed.
• Review daily schedules, identify conflicts, and coordinate resolutions with colleagues and providers.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED with at least 1 year of customer service or healthcare experience.
• Computer and typing proficiency; ability to pass required training within two attempts.
• Preferred: Associate’s Degree in healthcare or related field and 2 years of registration/insurance verification experience.
• Ability to interact with a diverse patient base, including emergency and accident cases.

Required skills

• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Computer and typing proficiency for data entry.
