Registered Sanitarian – Field Inspections (Lockhart, TX)

About the role

The Registered Sanitarian conducts field inspections of retail food establishments, public swimming pools, spas and interactive water features throughout Texas, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations while providing on‑site education and exceptional customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and schedule inspections of retail food establishments, public pools, spas and water features across Texas.
• Conduct on‑site evaluations to verify compliance with Texas Food Establishment Rules, the 2017 FDA Food Code and State Standards for Public Swimming Pools and Spas.
• Provide immediate on‑site education and corrective‑action guidance to owners, managers and staff.
• Document findings using an iPad, capture photos, complete electronic forms and issue reports, notices of correction and compliance certificates.
• Track corrective actions, schedule re‑inspections and confirm resolution of deficiencies.
• Respond to client inquiries via phone, email or virtual meetings and promote Bureau Veritas services.

Required profile

• High‑school diploma or GED; associate degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Food Science or related field preferred.
• 3–5 years of field experience conducting food‑service or pool inspections.
• Registered Sanitarian (Texas) or REHS/RS credential and Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification.
• Valid Texas driver’s license.

Required skills

• iPad/Mobile inspection software for data entry, photo capture and electronic form completion.
• Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Photoshop for document handling and digital imaging.
• Technical writing for clear inspection reports and correction notices.
