Registered Pharmacist

About the role

Hy-Vee is hiring a Registered Pharmacist for its pharmacy in Jefferson City. Licensed pharmacists are trusted healthcare professionals who fill and verify prescriptions, counsel patients, support the pharmacy team and help grow the business through wellness programs and community outreach. The role is hourly and reports to the Pharmacy Department Manager and Pharmacy Supervisor.

Key responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service and greet customers by name
• Fill and verify prescriptions and counsel patients in line with OBRA '90 and state and federal regulations
• Administer immunizations as certified and maintain patient confidentiality under HIPAA
• Assist with controlled substance inventory, inventory control, ordering, stocking, invoice checks and inventory entry
• Help reconcile and balance third-party accounts and monthly inventory
• Coach, counsel and train pharmacy employees and take part in additional education
• Market pharmacy services at schools, doctors' offices and senior centers
• Build growth and sales through counseling and wellness programs
• Follow security and regulatory procedures, including Quality Assurance Programs
• Act as department lead in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager and partner with other departments on wellness initiatives
• Stay in close contact with the Pharmacy Manager on procedural changes and corporate communications

Required profile

• College degree and pharmacy licensure, with continuing education to keep the license active
• 6 to 12 months of similar or related work experience
• Ability to administer immunizations is required
• Medication Therapy Management (MTM) preferred

• Logical and scientific thinking and accurate mathematical calculations
• Ability to read technical manuals and evaluate technical data
• Professional counseling of patients and interaction with healthcare providers and store leadership
• Discretion and integrity with confidential patient and financial information

The work is fast-paced in a retail pharmacy, with occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals or solvents during compounding, including chemotherapy drugs. Employment is contingent on passing a pre-employment drug screen.
