Registered Nurse - Surgery, Lenexa City Center

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a full-time day-shift Registered Nurse for its Lenexa City Center facility in Kansas. The nurse provides surgical care, develops individualized care plans, educates patients and families, and responds to code situations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual and lifestyle factors.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans, reviewing and revising them regularly.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely, following physician orders and hospital protocols, and monitor for adverse reactions.
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, medications and self-care strategies.
• Collaborate with medical staff and ancillary departments to coordinate patient care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient information, care activities, interventions and outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with infection control protocols, safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Provide emotional support and therapeutic communication to patients and families.
• Supervise and delegate care provided by other team members.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and respond promptly to code situations.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) license required; additional licensure or certification may depend on the unit or state.
• Associate's degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Fluent in English (reading, speaking and writing).
• Basic computer skills, including navigating Microsoft Windows-based programs.
• Ability to use abstract reasoning to assess patients, evaluate interventions and revise care plans.
• 1+ year of experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.

Pay range: $32.83 - $61.05.
