Registered Nurse (RN) Weekender – Labor & Delivery

About the role

The Registered Nurse (RN) Weekender will provide comprehensive, family‑centered care on the 16‑bed Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum (LDRP) unit at Atrium Health Union. Working two 12‑hour weekend shifts (7 p.m. – 7 a.m.) you will support patients from admission through postpartum recovery, including triage, labor management, delivery and recovery.

Key responsibilities

• Perform assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans for laboring and postpartum patients.
• Manage triage of incoming patients in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment.
• Coordinate delivery and recovery processes, ensuring safe and high‑quality outcomes.
• Document care accurately in the electronic health record and communicate effectively with the care team.
• Delegate tasks to appropriate staff in accordance with policies and legal guidelines.

Required profile

• At least one year of Labor & Delivery nursing experience.
• Current RN license and certification as required by state regulations.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Commitment to cultural diversity, inclusion and patient safety.
