Registered Nurse (RN) – Virtual Nurse – Centralized Nursing Services

About the role

The Virtual Nursing Program at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System places Registered Nurses in a centralized onsite "bunker" to deliver remote nursing support to bedside teams via secure audio/video technology. This role enhances patient care, reduces bedside administrative load, and supports interdisciplinary collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Complete admission histories, medication reconciliations, and discharge documentation.
• Provide patient and family education and assist with discharge planning.
• Support bedside nurses with care coordination, administrative tasks, and real‑time clinical communication.
• Collaborate with physicians, case management, pharmacy, and other care teams.
• Escalate patient concerns or condition changes immediately to bedside staff.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient privacy during all virtual interactions.

Required profile

• Current RN licensure in South Carolina.
• Minimum two years of acute‑care nursing experience (preferred).
• Strong communication, critical‑thinking, and multitasking abilities.
• Previous telehealth or virtual nursing experience is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
• Experience operating virtual nursing equipment, including monitors, cameras, headsets, and communication platforms.
• Basic troubleshooting of virtual care technology.
