Registered Nurse / Rad Tech / RRT - Cath Lab

About the role

AdventHealth in Altamonte Springs, Florida, is hiring a full-time day-shift professional for its catheterization laboratory. The position suits a registered nurse (RN), registered radiologic technologist (RRT), registered respiratory therapist (RRT), registered cardiovascular invasive specialist (RCIS), registered cardiac electrophysiology specialist (RCES), cardiovascular interventional tech (CVIT), licensed paramedic (PARA) or certified surgical technologist (CST). The schedule is 4/10 shifts Monday to Friday with a rotating day off, and on-call requirements of 10-14 days of call per 6-week schedule, including 2 weekends.

Key responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures, including coronary, electrophysiology, peripheral and structural heart interventions
• Verify orders, administer and evaluate treatments and medications, and respond to clinical emergencies within the scope of practice
• Maintain and operate equipment and supplies for cardiovascular procedures, keeping them properly set up and sterilized
• Produce accurate, timely medical records and keep them secure
• Train and supervise new personnel, and take scheduled emergency calls
• Participate in quality and performance improvement activities and enforce safety and regulatory standards
• Follow radiation safety principles (time, distance, shielding) to keep exposure ALARA

Required profile

• Associate's degree in nursing, radiography or another healthcare field (bachelor's preferred)
• 1+ year of relevant healthcare experience; 2+ years in cardiac cath, electrophysiology, neurosciences, critical care or interventional radiology preferred
• Required licenses: RN, RT(R)(ARRT), RRT, RCIS, RCES, CVIT, PARA or CST, plus BLS and ACLS certification
• Ability to read, write and speak conversational English

Required skills

• ECG training and arrhythmia interpretation, cardiovascular and vascular anatomy, hemodynamic monitoring
• Monitoring blood pressure, ECG and pulse oximetry
• Radiology software such as EMR and PACS
• Interventional radiology experience including coiling, stenting, declot and groin management
• Knowledge of fluoroscopic equipment and procedure-specific equipment (e.g., AngioJet, Sonosite)
• Correct coding of procedures
