Registered Nurse (PRN) - Hematology/Oncology

About the role

aoncology is hiring a PRN Registered Nurse for its Zangmeister Cancer Center. The nurse delivers safe, accurate and efficient patient care, including patient assessment, medication safety, dose verification and drug administration, and follows all Job Breakdown Instructions (JBIs) for the role.

Key responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy, supportive care and non-oncologic agents safely and accurately, using ONS standards and guidelines
• Provide triage care when needed and communicate patient conditions to the multidisciplinary team
• Dispose of biohazardous waste correctly per OSHA and NIOSH guidelines
• Educate patients and caregivers about medications, side effects and the planned treatment course
• Maintain thorough, accurate and timely EMR documentation and capture appropriate charges
• Prioritize incoming calls and messages from patients, families, hospitals, pharmacies and physicians, and respond within the appropriate time frame
• Assist with inventory and restocking of medical supplies, place stock in storage areas and recommend new purchases
• Complete annual safety and nursing trainings, attend mandatory staff meetings, assist in training new employees and comply with patient privacy and company policies
• Work at any company location on an as-needed basis and work overtime when given sufficient notice

Required profile

• Nursing degree and unencumbered RN license in the state of employment or a multi-state license
• Current CPR and BLS certifications and a valid driver's license with a vehicle for travel between clinic locations
• Experience with hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital setting
• Fluency in English with excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-site environment and to work remotely when required
