Registered Nurse Per Diem – Emergency Department

The University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is seeking a Per Diem Registered Nurse to support the Emergency Department in Miami, FL. This position provides patient‑family centered care in a fast‑paced, culturally competent environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients, document nursing care, and report changes in condition.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient response and physician orders.
• Review diagnostic tests and collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments while considering age and cultural factors.
• Administer medications safely and maintain accurate medication records.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and the care team, ensuring HIPAA compliance.
• Assist with discharge planning and transition of care.
• Operate medical equipment and adhere to university policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
• Valid State of Florida RN license.
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• No prior experience required; ability to learn new procedures and adapt to changing priorities.
