Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical Unit

About the role

Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide professional nursing care on the Medical Surgical Unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital‑Dickson City. The role involves comprehensive patient assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in line with facility policies.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for designated patients, collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary team members.
• Provide patient and family education throughout the treatment course and support smooth transitions of care.
• Participate in evidence‑based practice, performance improvement processes, and unit safety initiatives.
• Teach, mentor, and precept new colleagues and interns, delegating tasks based on skill and patient acuity.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with current RN licensure in Pennsylvania.
• Ability to organize and prioritize assignments, maintain clinical competency, and complete unit‑specific orientation.
• Physical ability to lift and carry 40‑50 lb, stand/walk for long periods, and perform patient transfers.

Required skills

• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Basic computer skills for documentation and technology use.
