Registered Nurse Manager, Labor and Delivery

About the role

AdventHealth Celebration Labor and Delivery is looking for a full-time Registered Nurse Manager to lead its Level II maternity unit, which handles about 3,375 births per year. The unit includes 6 triage rooms, 10 labor rooms, 2 operating rooms and 2 PACU beds, and is supported 24/7 by hospitalists, neonatologists and anesthesiologists. The shift is nights, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and the schedule is 36 hours.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor nursing staff performance, give feedback, run appraisals and implement improvement plans to meet clinical and professional standards.
• Foster professional growth by identifying training needs, organizing education and mentoring staff.
• Resolve staff conflicts quickly and fairly to keep a positive, cohesive team.
• Lead quality improvement initiatives by analyzing data and improving patient care and efficiency.
• Communicate clearly with patients, families and the healthcare team.
• Mentor and precept new staff with hands-on training and feedback.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN); Associate's degree in nursing required, Bachelor's preferred.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.
• 1+ years of charge nurse or relevant leadership experience preferred.
• 1+ years of acute care nursing experience preferred.
• Ability to lead staff, drive performance improvement, manage the unit's business and finances, and act as a role model of professionalism.

Required skills

• Excellent clinical practice knowledge and broad nursing knowledge.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic computer skills, including experience with an electronic health record.
• Preferred certifications: CCNS, CMSRN, CNOR, CRNI, NRP-A, MEDSURG-BC, CPAN, PCCN, PEARS, VA-BC, S.T.A.B.L.E., AVADE, GERO-BC, and nonviolent crisis intervention.
