Registered Nurse – Head & Neck (Per Diem)

About the role

The Registered Nurse – Per Diem On Call provides patient‑family centered care for head and neck oncology patients at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. This role supports a culturally competent environment while collaborating with physicians and allied health staff.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and modify treatment plans based on patient response and physician orders.
• Review and report diagnostic test results to evaluate patient condition.
• Consult with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and evaluate care plans.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, considering age and cultural factors.
• Perform patient tests and safely administer medications, maintaining accurate records.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and team members while complying with HIPAA and other regulations.
• Assist with discharge planning using available resources.
• Prioritize assignments, adapt to changing demands, and operate medical equipment safely.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff, providing feedback and guidance.
• Adhere to university and unit policies, safeguarding assets.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experience.
• Valid State of Florida RN license.
