Registered Nurse – Emergency Department (RN)

About the role

Join a high‑performing Emergency Department team at a 54‑bed Level III Trauma Center in Tuscaloosa, AL. As a Registered Nurse you will provide critical care to a diverse patient population, working 24/7 alongside physicians, nurse practitioners and support staff.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, triage and treat emergency and trauma patients in a fast‑paced environment.
• Maintain a 1:1 nurse‑to‑patient ratio for critical/trauma cases and 1:3‑4 for other patients.
• Collaborate with physicians, NP’s and interdisciplinary staff to develop and implement care plans.
• Float to other units or partner hospitals as needed, working 36‑ or 48‑hour weeks.
• Provide coverage on holidays and every other weekend.

Required profile

• Associate degree in nursing (ADN) or higher.
• Active Registered Nurse license in Alabama (or compact license).
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a large hospital setting, with trauma experience.
• Current certifications: AHA ACLS, AHA BLS, AHA PALS (or Red Cross/NIH equivalent), TNCC.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Meditech EMR system.
• Ability to work night shifts (7 PM‑7 AM) and flexible float assignments.
• Strong knowledge of emergency and trauma protocols.
