Registered Nurse – Behavioral Health (Days)

About the role

Join a 150‑bed hospital recognized for safety and quality as a Registered Nurse in the Behavioral Health unit. The position works days shifts, providing direct and indirect psychiatric care to adult patients in an inpatient setting.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct psychiatric assessments and develop individualized care plans.
• Monitor patient conditions, evaluate responses, and adjust treatment plans.
• Administer prescribed medications, including psychotropics, and document accurately.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and therapeutic routines.
• Participate in group, family, and individual therapeutic sessions.
• Provide education to patients and families about treatment, medications, and coping strategies.
• Coordinate care with the interdisciplinary team and support discharge planning.
• Engage in crisis intervention and behavioral de‑escalation when needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and promote a safe therapeutic environment.
• Contribute to staff training, orientation, and trauma‑informed care modeling.

Required profile

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Current RN license in Texas or Compact State RN license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as required by facility policy.
• Handle With Care (HWC) or Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification.
• Ability to handle psychiatric emergencies and sustain extended periods of activity.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.
• Handle With Care (HWC) or Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification.
• Knowledge of behavioral health nursing principles and de‑escalation techniques.
