Registered Nurse – Adult Joint & Reconstruction Orthopedics (Full‑Time)

About the role

The University of Miami is seeking a full‑time Registered Nurse to join the Adult Joint and Reconstruction Orthopedics Step‑down unit. The RN will provide patient‑family centered care, ensuring safety, quality, and cultural competence for orthopedic patients.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and modify treatment plans based on patient response and physician orders.
• Review and report diagnostic test results to evaluate patient condition.
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, providing education and psychological support.
• Administer medications and perform patient tests in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and team members while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
• Assist with discharge planning and utilize resources to ensure smooth transitions.
• Prioritize assignments, adapt to changing demands, and operate medical equipment safely.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff, offering guidance and feedback.
• Adhere to university policies and safeguard assets.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum two years of nursing experience, preferably in orthopedics.
• Valid State of Florida RN license.
• Applicable certifications as required by the department.
