Registered Nurse 2 – Specialty – Emergency Department

About the role

The University of Miami, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, seeks a full‑time Registered Nurse 2 – Specialty for its Emergency Department. The RN will deliver patient‑family centered care in a culturally competent, evidence‑based manner.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients, document nursing care, and report changes in condition and vital signs.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient responses, physician orders, and diagnostic test results.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments while considering age and cultural factors.
• Administer medications safely, maintain accurate medication records, and operate medical equipment.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and the care team, ensuring HIPAA compliance.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff and assist with discharge planning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
• Valid State of Florida RN license.
• Minimum two years of relevant nursing experience.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
