Regional Registered Dietitian - Hammond, Indiana

About the role

Hy-Vee is hiring a Regional Registered Dietitian in Hammond, Indiana, within its Health department. The role provides independent counseling on specific dietary needs, gives presentations on health and nutrition topics in-store and in the surrounding community, and works with fresh, center store, HealthMarket and pharmacy departments to promote the Hy-Vee health brand. It reports to the District Store Director(s) and the Assistant Vice President, Retail Dietetics.

Key responsibilities

• Counsel customers on dietary needs such as heart disease, high blood pressure, weight loss, diabetes, food allergies and intolerances, and educate pharmacy customers while partnering with pharmacists.
• Facilitate monthly group seminars in the store and deliver nutrition presentations for corporations, schools, community centers and organizations.
• Run nutrition shopping tours, answer questions about foods and supplements, and make promotional announcements over the intercom.
• Research answers to customer questions, keep current on nutrition topics and complete required continuing education hours.
• Provide employee wellness services such as biometric screenings, health education and medical nutrition therapy, and complete Hy-Vee media training.
• Adhere to HIPAA certification and patient confidentiality, follow company policies, and assist in other store areas as needed.

Required profile

• Registered Dietitian certification and state licensure for the supported state(s).
• Bachelor's degree with a major in foods, nutrition or dietetics preferred; completed dietetic internship approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
• Minimum of six months of similar or related work experience.
• Central residency within the supporting area.
• Physical ability for sedentary work, occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds, and use of equipment such as a cholesterol tester, glucometer and blood pressure cuff.

• Ability to solve problems and use basic computer systems (word processing, spreadsheets, email).
