Regional Float Pharmacy Technician

About the role

Aoncology is hiring a Pharmacy Technician for its Florida Oncology and Hematology clinic as a regional float position. The technician maintains the ordering and stocking of medications and supplies, prepares and mixes medications under the supervision of a licensed healthcare professional, and acts as liaison between physicians, nursing, pharmacy and purchasing for special-order medications. Pay range is $18.00 - $28.08.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and mix chemotherapy drugs and solutions under licensed supervision and in compliance with state regulations.
• Maintain proficiency with the Nucleus medication dispensing system and ensure accurate dispensing and par-level management.
• Review next-day orders with nursing staff to anticipate special medication needs.
• Order, stock and track medical supplies and medications, keeping inventory levels appropriate and minimizing waste.
• Perform daily and annual maintenance of chemotherapy hoods and manage ambulatory pump documentation.
• Handle biohazardous waste disposal safely and in compliance, including recordkeeping and coordination with Accounting.
• Maintain records for compassionate drug programs, clinical trials, biohazard waste and other pharmacy processes, and comply with federal/state laws, patient privacy regulations, OSHA standards and organizational policies.
• Assist in training new pharmacy technicians and nursing staff on chemotherapy preparation and Nucleus workflows.
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, supervisors and pharmaceutical representatives to support patient care and operations.
• Support operations across multiple locations as needed and work overtime when required; attend mandatory meetings such as annual Safety/OSHA training.

Required profile

• PTCB certification or registration as a Pharmacy Technician, following applicable state regulations.
• At least three years of experience in the healthcare field; clinical pharmacy technician experience preferred.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to educational, research and training meetings.
• Valid state driver's license for travel to clinics.
