Regional Credit Officer

About the role

The Regional Credit Officer leads a team of Credit Analysts, Portfolio Managers and support staff to oversee underwriting and credit risk management across a geographic region. The role supports Commercial Lending and, when needed, Private Client Services and Consumer Lending, ensuring sound credit decisions and alignment with bank policies.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Chief Credit Officer in managing loan‑distribution risk and implementing credit policies.
• Lead or co‑chair the Regional Loan Committee and review loan proposals for approval.
• Oversee the Credit Analyst team, monitor adherence to credit policy, and manage exceptions.
• Drive technology and process improvement projects to increase underwriting efficiency.
• Perform financial statement, cash‑flow and collateral analysis for new loan requests.
• Apply risk‑rating matrices to grade assets and maintain portfolio quality.
• Collaborate with Market Presidents and Commercial Lenders to prepare accurate loan write‑ups.
• Prepare and review reports on portfolio status, deal flow and workload for senior management.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with extensive experience in commercial credit underwriting and risk management.
• Proven leadership ability to manage and develop credit teams.
• Strong understanding of banking regulations, credit policies and lending principles.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with sales, documentation and senior executives.
