RCM Specialist – Mental/Behavioral Health

About the role

PsychPlus is seeking a detail‑oriented Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) Specialist to oversee the full billing lifecycle for psychiatry and behavioral health services. The role is onsite and requires reliable transportation to the office.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and submit accurate claims for therapy, medication management, and psychiatric evaluations.
• Apply correct CPT, ICD‑10, and HCPCS codes, with expertise in psychiatry codes such as 90791, 90833, 90834, 90837, 99213, and 99214.
• Submit electronic and paper claims to commercial insurers, Medicare, and Medicaid.
• Perform accounts‑receivable follow‑ups and manage aged claims to secure timely reimbursement.
• Investigate, resolve, and resubmit denied or rejected claims, implementing corrective actions.
• Post payments using ERA/EOBs, reconcile billing records, and apply adjustments or write‑offs.
• Collaborate with providers and internal teams to obtain missing documentation and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain strict HIPAA compliance and adhere to psychiatry billing regulations.
• Generate billing and performance reports for leadership review.

Required profile

• Intermediate/A‑Levels or Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum 1 year of hands‑on experience in U.S. mental health billing and RCM.
• Availability to work onsite.
• Strong knowledge of the full RCM lifecycle for mental and behavioral health services.
• Proficiency with EMR systems and the billing platform CollaborateMD (must have).
• In‑depth understanding of psychiatry billing codes, modifiers, and payer‑specific protocols.
• Experience with insurance verification, AR analysis, denial management, and payment posting.
