Quality Engineer – General Assembly (Megafactory)

About the role

Tesla is looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to lead quality assurance for large stationary battery products at our Megafactory. You will ensure that every component and process meets the highest safety, reliability, and quality standards while driving continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Own quality of incoming components and production processes, implementing controls and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Lead complex problem‑solving using 8D, Lean Six Sigma, and Shainin methodologies.
• Guide cross‑functional teams through risk assessments, containment actions, root‑cause analysis, and corrective‑preventive actions.
• Develop and execute Advance Product Quality Planning for new programs, including supplier qualification.
• Conduct Design & Process FMEA, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Define and deploy critical product, sub‑assembly, and manufacturing requirements.
• Design, validate, and improve quality controls across production lines in partnership with design, operations, and maintenance teams.
• Participate in design change reviews, dimensional analysis, and statistical tolerancing studies.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Quality Engineer in a high‑volume manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on zero‑defect and first‑time‑right principles.
• Ability to lead cross‑functional teams and communicate effectively with engineering, production, and supplier groups.
• Commitment to safety, sustainability, and customer satisfaction.
