Quality Engineer – Flexrotor Program

About the role

Airbus Helicopters is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to lead the deployment of the Quality Management System for the Flexrotor program in Bingen, WA. The role is primarily onsite and focuses on data‑driven defect analysis, root‑cause investigations and continuous improvement of production quality.

Key responsibilities

• Define, implement and maintain QMS processes covering 70 % of the role, including dashboards, statistical analysis of non‑conformities and KPI monitoring.
• Lead practical problem‑solving events, develop RCCA plans and support inspection personnel with non‑conformity management.
• Create and update company manuals, policies, procedures and inspection plans to ensure compliance with FAA and AS9100 standards.
• Apply continuous‑improvement tools (SQCDP, PDCA, Six Sigma, lean) to evaluate and enhance the quality system, conduct internal audits and prepare audit checklists.
• Collaborate with design, production and support teams to identify trends, provide feedback and drive corrective actions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Industrial, Quality) or equivalent experience.
• Minimum eight years of technical or quality engineering experience in a mature production environment.
• U.S. Person status under ITAR (U.S. citizen, green‑card holder or authorized).
• Ability to work onsite in Bingen with occasional domestic and international travel (≈10 %).

Required skills

• Costpoint and TIPQA (or similar) knowledge.
• Six Sigma methodology and certification.
• AS9100 auditor experience.
• FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) knowledge.
• Proficiency in CAD drawing creation for corrective actions.
• Statistical data analysis and data‑analytics techniques.
• Lean manufacturing principles.
