Quality Control Technical Shift Lead - San Diego

About the role

PolyPeptide partners with pharmaceutical and biotech companies on peptide-based therapies. It is looking for a Quality Control Technical Shift Lead in San Diego to lead daily QC laboratory operations, guide analysts and ensure analytical testing is accurate, efficient and compliant with GMP. The role suits a senior analyst ready for more responsibility or an experienced technical lead seeking a broader leadership position.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate daily QC testing, scheduling and project priorities, and assign workload to analysts according to staffing and business needs
• Monitor sample turnaround times and capacity constraints to support timely material and product release
• Act as a technical resource for analysts, covering testing, troubleshooting, investigations, data review and laboratory best practices
• Run complex analytical tests and calibrate equipment; prepare samples and solutions per established methods
• Review analytical data, recommend solutions or escalations, and support investigations, deviations and corrective actions
• Support "Go / No Go" decisions, approve time reports and maintain 5S and Kanban lab organization

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry or a related life sciences field
• 4+ years in a GMP-regulated QC laboratory, including at least 1 year in a leadership, senior analyst, technical lead or team lead capacity
• Experience with peptide products highly desirable

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with HPLC, GC and other analytical instrumentation
• Strong understanding of cGMP, ICH, USP, EP, SOPs, regulatory expectations and data integrity
• Ability to troubleshoot methods, instruments and investigations, and to interpret technical results
• Leadership, coaching and strong communication skills

Pay is listed as $33-$40 per hour.
