Quality Assurance Receiving Inspector

About the role

Fender Musical Instruments Corporation is looking for a Quality Assurance Receiving Inspector in Corona, CA. The inspector checks incoming purchased components, raw materials and supplier parts against engineering drawings, specifications and quality standards, using GD&T and precision measuring tools to accept, reject or route nonconforming material so only conforming parts enter production.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect incoming parts, components and raw materials against engineering drawings, purchase orders and specifications.
• Interpret GD&T callouts, datums and tolerances from blueprints and technical drawings.
• Set up surface plate layouts and use height gages, gage blocks, angle plates and sine bars.
• Use calipers, micrometers, height gages, bore/depth gages, thread gages, pin/plug gages, dial indicators, radius/thread gages and optical comparators.
• Apply statistical sampling and AQL-based acceptance sampling plans.
• Inspect plated, coated and finished parts, including coating/plating thickness verification.
• Document results, complete inspection reports and receiving records, and tag and segregate nonconforming material.
• Initiate nonconformance reports (NCRs) and support MRB and supplier corrective actions.
• Check that measuring and test equipment is calibrated, review supplier documents (C of C, FAI reports) and communicate quality issues to Quality, Purchasing, Supply Chain and Engineering.
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area and follow 5S standards.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3-5 years of mechanical/dimensional inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience inspecting plated, coated and finished components, including plating thickness verification.
• Experience with nonconformance/MRB processes and first article inspection.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize and manage inspection workload to support production schedules.

Required skills

• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints and GD&T.
• Surface plate set-ups and layout inspection.
• Sampling procedures and AQL acceptance sampling.
• ERP/quality systems (e.g. SAP) for receiving and inspection transactions.
