Qualified Medication Aide

About the role

Indiana Treatment Centers, in partnership with Ascension Recovery Services, seeks a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) to support clients in detox and residential care at the Mishawaka facility. Working under the supervision of a licensed nurse, you will administer medications and assist the care team in a trauma‑informed environment.

Key responsibilities

• Administer oral, topical and other non‑parenteral medications as delegated by the supervising nurse.
• Document all medication administration accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Report medication errors, omissions, or variances immediately to the supervising nurse.
• Monitor client responses, side effects and adverse reactions.
• Assist with medication counts, secure storage and chain‑of‑custody procedures.
• Support nursing staff with vital signs, patient monitoring and other delegated clinical tasks.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, trauma‑informed therapeutic environment.
• Adhere to Joint Commission, state and federal regulatory standards.
• Participate in required training and keep QMA certification active.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Current Indiana Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) certification.
• Completion of CNA certification and a state‑approved 100‑hour QMA course.
• Successful completion of written and skills examinations.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
• Preferred: experience in behavioral health, substance‑use disorder treatment, detox or residential care.
