Public Health Nurse

About the role

The Public Health Nurse will join Ulster County’s health team in Kingston, NY, delivering essential nursing services and supporting community health initiatives. This full‑time, on‑site position focuses on promoting wellness, preventing disease, and providing direct care to diverse populations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive health assessments for individuals and groups.
• Develop and deliver health education programs on preventive practices.
• Implement and monitor community‑based prevention and intervention programs.
• Collaborate with physicians, social workers, and local organizations to coordinate care.
• Participate in case management activities, including documentation and follow‑up.
• Maintain accurate records and report health trends to county officials.

Required profile

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing in New York State.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related field (preferred).
• Experience in public health, community health, or similar healthcare settings (advantageous).
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse populations.
