Protective Intelligence Director
zerohash · Chicago
Job description
About the role
Protective Intelligence is zerohash's security function responsible for the safety of its people. This is a hands-on, individually accountable role: you will own daily operations and case decisions directly, from monitoring and triage through vendor management and executive travel security planning. The position is open to Chicago, IL and New York, NY, with remote options within the company.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor, triage and remediate digital risk alerts, online impersonation and brand abuse.
- Assess and manage threat cases for executives and their families with appropriate sensitivity and rigor.
- Determine executive protection coverage and travel-related security risks, including international travel.
- Conduct risk assessments for residential physical security, company office locations and hosted events or public appearances.
- Build law enforcement relationships and coordinate with Legal before engagement.
- Manage digital risk monitoring vendors, program budget and documentation.
- Deliver security awareness briefings to enrolled executives and report activity to leadership.
Required profile
- Background in corporate security, executive protection, protective intelligence, or law enforcement/federal investigative experience.
- Comfortable being the single point of accountability.
- Sound judgment with sensitive personal information about executives and their families, and the discretion it requires.
- Able to work directly and credibly with senior leaders and their support staff without a management layer in between.
- Available for time-sensitive escalations outside standard hours as the primary after-hours escalation contact, with backup coverage from Risk leadership.
Required skills
- Familiarity with OSINT research and digital-risk monitoring tools is a plus, not required on day one.
What we offer
- Healthcare insurance, with zerohash covering roughly 100% of employee premiums and part of spouse/children premiums (U.S. only).
- Vision and dental insurance (U.S. only).
- Chance to earn equity.
- Maternity and paternity leave after 6 months.
- WeWork All Access membership.
- Yearly stipends for working from home and for learning and development (after 6 months).
