Propulsion Systems Engineer

About the role

Benchmark Space Systems is looking for a motivated Propulsion Systems Engineer to own the full lifecycle of spacecraft propulsion components, from concept through flight qualification. The position is onsite at our Pleasanton, California facility.

Key responsibilities

• Define requirements, design, build, test and qualify propulsion hardware and fluid systems.
• Perform fluid and thermophysical analysis, including pressure budgets and dynamic modeling.
• Write and execute test plans for development and flight qualification campaigns.
• Support prototype fabrication, rapid iteration, and cross‑functional collaboration.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s in aerospace, mechanical engineering or related field.
• 3+ years experience with aerospace fluid systems and U.S. Person status.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment and collaborate across departments.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks, NX or Creo.
• Knowledge of GD&T and basic manufacturing principles.
• Experience with fluid system components (valves, regulators, pumps, tanks) and plumbing diagrams.
• Thermal and fluid analysis using tools like ANSYS or Thermal Desktop.
