About the role
Moog seeks a Project Quality Engineer to lead quality planning and execution for Defense Business Unit programs. The role ensures products, processes and documentation meet contractual, customer and regulatory requirements while supporting mission‑critical electronic and electromechanical systems.
Key responsibilities
- Lead quality planning, inspection plans, first‑article inspections and controls across receiving, manufacturing, assembly, test and final inspection.
- Maintain contractual and regulatory compliance through traceability, configuration management and contamination control documentation.
- Serve as primary quality interface with customers, government agencies, suppliers and internal teams, supporting audits and source inspections.
- Resolve nonconformances, conduct root‑cause investigations, implement corrective actions and verify effectiveness.
- Drive product and process improvements using statistical methods, SPC, regression analysis, gauge variation and Design of Experiments.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a STEM discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably 8 years.
- Experience with complex defense‑related electronic, electro‑hydraulic or electromechanical products.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Secret security clearance.
Required skills
- Root‑cause analysis and closed‑loop corrective action.
- Nonconformance processing and material review.
- First‑article inspection report preparation and inspection planning.
- Configuration control, traceability and end‑item documentation.
- Statistical analysis, process monitoring and continuous improvement.
- Proficiency with statistical, spreadsheet, word‑processing and database software.
- Lean Six Sigma methodology (certification a plus).
- ESD and FOD handling requirements for electronic hardware.
- Servo‑valve subassembly knowledge.
