About the role
The Wetland Biogeochemistry Analytical Services (WBAS) laboratory at Louisiana State University seeks a Project Manager to oversee the operation of its environmental chemistry service center. The role involves coordinating analytical projects, supervising staff and students, and ensuring high‑quality delivery of nutrient analyses for a diverse client base.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and execute laboratory‑based projects involving water, soil, sediment, and plant sample analyses, overseeing planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Supervise undergraduate and graduate students as well as research staff, providing training on laboratory protocols and instrumentation.
- Coordinate cross‑functional activities with internal stakeholders, clients, and external partners, monitoring progress and mitigating risks.
- Maintain client relationships, prepare final analytical reports, and communicate results clearly.
- Handle financial and administrative tasks such as invoicing, sample tracking, and contributing to the analytical cost‑center budget.
- Ensure quality assurance and regulatory compliance by producing accurate technical data and reports.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, chemistry, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience managing laboratory projects and supervising technical staff.
- Strong organizational, planning, and communication abilities.
- Familiarity with institutional and regulatory policies governing analytical laboratories.
Required skills
- Laboratory analytical techniques for water, soil, sediment, and plant samples.
