Project Manager – Multi-family Construction

About the role

The company, a respected developer‑builder of affordable multi‑family housing in California, is looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead high‑density residential projects from pre‑construction through handover. You will own the full project lifecycle, coordinating design, permitting, construction and close‑out while ensuring safety, schedule and budget targets are met.

Key responsibilities

• Lead multi‑family construction projects from buyout and scheduling through final inspections and closeout.
• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
• Manage all financial aspects, including budgeting, forecasting, monthly draws and subcontractor change orders.
• Oversee subcontractor procurement, contract administration and performance management.
• Ensure compliance with affordable‑housing regulations and funding requirements such as LIHTC, HUD and prevailing‑wage rules.
• Serve as primary liaison among development teams, architects, engineers, municipal officials and field superintendents.
• Monitor project quality, safety, documentation and overall performance throughout construction.
• Prepare and deliver regular status updates, financial reports and risk assessments to leadership.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience managing multi‑family or commercial vertical construction projects.
• Strong understanding of high‑density wood‑frame (Type III/V) and podium construction, as well as urban infill site logistics.
• Proven expertise in project budgeting, cost controls, forecasting and contract negotiations.
