Project Manager / Estimator – General Construction

About the role

Our client, a well‑established general contractor specializing in convenience stores, fueling stations and small retail projects across Virginia and the Mid‑Atlantic, is seeking a Project Manager / Estimator. The role combines pre‑construction estimating with full‑cycle construction management for C‑store and fuel station projects. It is ideal for a construction professional with 3‑7 years of experience looking for autonomy and growth.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and bid proposals for C‑store, fueling and light commercial projects.
• Manage projects from pre‑construction through close‑out, including scheduling, budgeting and subcontractor coordination.
• Perform quantity take‑offs and analyze plans, drawings and specifications.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, safety and quality.
• Maintain client communication and ensure milestones are met on time and within budget.
• Collaborate with field superintendents, project engineers and accounting staff to ensure financial and operational accuracy.
• Support business development and proposal efforts as needed.

Required profile

• 3–7 years of experience in commercial construction, preferably with convenience‑store, fuel station or retail projects.
• Experience performing both estimating and project management duties.
• Strong understanding of construction documents, specifications and subcontractor coordination.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail and timelines.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field preferred (not mandatory).

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with Bluebeam.
• Familiarity with estimating software.
• Familiarity with project management software.
