Project Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Project Engineer to lead capital and expense projects at our Chattanooga site. You will work closely with site engineers and managers to plan, scope, and execute projects that improve plant performance and support operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all phases of assigned capital/expense projects, including scope development, cost estimation, SAP entry, procurement, construction management, commissioning, and startup.
• Ensure compliance with EHS Step Reviews, Management of Change (MOC), and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) in line with BASF policies.
• Provide engineering support for process troubleshooting, reliability improvements, and problem resolution.
• Identify and drive plant optimization initiatives to enhance performance and reduce costs.
• Manage project budgets up to €2.5 M, delivering safely, on time, and within budget.

Required profile

• Associate or Bachelor degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical/vocational training with extensive manufacturing experience.
• 2‑5 years of experience in chemical, pharmaceutical, or related manufacturing environments, or 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Proven project management ability, capable of leading small projects independently.
• Strong analytical, mechanical aptitude, and communication skills.
