Project Engineer – Construction Services (Alabama)

About the role

We are looking for a Project Engineer to lead Construction Engineering & Inspection (CE&I) services for transportation, roadway, bridge, drainage and public infrastructure projects in Mobile, Alabama. The role acts as the owner’s representative, overseeing construction administration, quality assurance and schedule management for complex public works.

Key responsibilities

• Manage CE&I activities for roadway, bridge, drainage, utility and infrastructure construction projects.
• Coordinate with contractors, consultants, government agencies and stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
• Review and process RFIs, submittals, change orders, pay applications and contract modifications.
• Monitor contractor performance, schedules, budgets and compliance with contract requirements.
• Perform and oversee field inspections of roadway, bridge, drainage, paving, structures and utility work.
• Lead quality assurance and quality control efforts and ensure compliance with ALDOT standards and safety regulations.
• Support project close‑out, final acceptance and post‑construction documentation.

Required profile

• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Alabama or ability to obtain licensure by comity.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering and a valid driver’s license.
• Experience managing ALDOT, municipal or public‑sector transportation projects.
• Knowledge of roadway, bridge, drainage, asphalt and concrete paving, traffic control and utility construction.
• Proven experience with contract administration, change orders, estimates, pay quantities and construction documentation.
• Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder management abilities.
