About the role
As a Project Electrical Engineer (equivalent to Electrical Engineer 4), you will join Oceaneering’s Aerospace and Defense Technologies team to develop complex power and control systems for unique underwater robotic and electromechanical platforms serving US Navy and other government customers.
Key responsibilities
- Design and deliver major portions of electrical and control system architectures for one‑of‑a‑kind projects.
- Lead, supervise and mentor small teams of senior and junior engineers.
- Generate detailed designs from high‑level requirements with minimal supervision.
- Prepare and participate in regular design reviews and collaborate with mechanical, software and systems engineers.
- Ensure compliance with safety, EMI/EMC, and industry standards throughout the development lifecycle.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field.
- At least 7 years of hands‑on experience in concept, analysis, simulation, design, integration and testing of complex electrical/robotic systems.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Government security clearance.
Required skills
- COTS equipment selection and integration.
- Electrical component sizing and wiring/grounding for EMI mitigation.
- Embedded microprocessor‑based control system design.
- Data‑communications interfaces (Ethernet, USB, RS‑232/422/485, SPI, I2C, CAN).
- DC power system design and power‑budget calculations.
- Electrical drafting (schematics, wiring diagrams, cable drawings).
- Use of test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power analyzers and communication analyzers.
- Proficiency with CAD/EDA tools (Altium Designer, SPICE, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SolidWorks Electrical, MathCAD, MATLAB).
