Project Business Controller

About the role

As a Project Business Controller at ABB you will act as the financial partner for project teams, ensuring sound commercial decisions and accurate reporting across multiple projects. You will be based in Houston and work in a hybrid model, collaborating closely with project managers to drive financial performance and risk mitigation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide financial input during commercial negotiations, local risk reviews, and the development of project execution plans.
• Prepare and process project invoices, maintain site accounting, and produce regular financial reports.
• Optimize project cash flow, revenue, and gross‑margin contribution while managing currency risk, bonds, guarantees, and tax considerations.
• Ensure the accuracy of project balance sheets, income statements, cash‑flow statements, and monthly/quarterly forecasts.
• Identify financial risks and opportunities, monitor mitigation actions, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.
• Professional certifications such as CFA, ACCA, CA, CPA or CMA are preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in finance, accounting, or project controls.
• Work authorization to be employed in the United States.
• Proficiency in SAP and advanced Microsoft Excel; Power BI knowledge is a plus.
