Programme Management and Innovation Intern

About the role

The Digital Enablement Team (DET) at UN Peacekeeping is seeking a motivated intern to support the implementation of the Strategy for Digital Transformation of UN Peacekeeping. This full‑time, in‑person internship in New York offers hands‑on experience in programme management, research and innovation within a high‑impact UN environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in identifying, developing, implementing and evaluating digital transformation initiatives for UN peacekeeping operations.
• Conduct background research on peacekeeping challenges, emerging technologies and innovation methodologies, synthesising findings into briefings and reports.
• Design and carry out surveys, stakeholder consultations and data‑gathering exercises; analyse and visualise data to inform programme decisions.
• Support the planning and facilitation of workshops, co‑creation sessions and consultations with UN entities, field missions and external partners.
• Draft background notes, talking points, meeting summaries, presentation decks, analytical briefs and communication content.
• Maintain organised records of meetings, project documents and innovation tools; contribute to knowledge‑sharing platforms.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a relevant programme (e.g., international relations, public policy, ICT, or related fields).
• Strong analytical, research and writing abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, multicultural environment.
• Interest in digital transformation, peacekeeping and international development.
