Program Officer, Curriculum Designer

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Program Officer, Curriculum Designer to lead the creation, refinement, and rollout of curricula for multiple refugee‑focused programs. You will work across Services for Older Refugees, Refugee School Impact, and Youth Mentorship, ensuring all learning materials are culturally responsive, trauma‑informed, and evidence‑based.

Key responsibilities

• Design, adapt, and implement curricula for SOR, RSI, and YM programs.
• Conduct rapid needs assessments and desk reviews to identify gaps and strengths in existing curricula.
• Develop curriculum modules, facilitation guides, and other learning resources covering literacy, life skills, social‑emotional learning, and school readiness.
• Integrate adult‑learning best practices and instructional design principles.
• Collaborate with subject‑matter experts and graphic designers to ensure high‑quality, accessible materials.
• Maintain continuity, accuracy, and cultural relevance across all learning products.

Required profile

• Proven experience implementing curriculum for refugee youth or older adult populations.
• Deep expertise in instructional design and curriculum writing.
• Experience working with subject‑matter experts and external stakeholders.
• Ability to conduct rapid needs assessments and apply evidence‑based practices for refugees and newcomers.
