Technical Skills Instructor for Outdoor Programs

About the role

The JUMP! Foundation seeks a Technical Skills Instructor to lead outdoor experiential education programs worldwide. You will teach youth aged 12‑18 in disciplines such as rock climbing, kayaking, trekking, and lifeguarding while ensuring safety and fostering personal growth.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert instruction in outdoor technical skills including rock climbing, kayaking, trekking, lifeguarding and related activities.
• Plan, deliver and adapt engaging outdoor education programs in collaboration with the program team.
• Conduct rigorous risk assessments, manage safety protocols, maintain equipment, and respond to emergencies.
• Promote environmental stewardship and sustainable practices during all activities.

Required profile

• Minimum 250 hours working with youth (12‑18) in outdoor settings and 150 hours facilitating outdoor activities.
• Relevant, current certifications for your specific discipline and extensive risk‑assessment experience.
• Excellent communication skills, fluency in English, and a WAFA (WFR preferred).

Required skills

• Technical outdoor expertise: rock climbing (top rope, belaying, bouldering), kayaking (river, ocean, swift‑water rescue), lifeguarding (PADI, deep water, pool), SUP, cycling, caving, orienteering, abseiling, high‑ropes course.
• Safety and equipment management, emergency response, and environmental education.
