About the role
The Program Management Specialist supports the Center for Global Migration Studies and the Department of History at the University of Maryland. This role blends operational, communications, advising, and project management duties to advance research initiatives, public programming, and community engagement.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate research initiatives, public events, workshops, and conferences for the Center and Department.
- Manage departmental communications, event promotion, and undergraduate student advising.
- Facilitate cross‑campus collaboration and community outreach related to migration studies.
- Maintain digital accessibility standards and ensure accessible web content.
- Handle administrative tasks, including lifting up to 25 lb, using office equipment, and preparing statistical reports.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree.
- At least two years of administrative staff experience.
- Elementary knowledge of reference and research methods, basic analytical and statistical principles.
- Experience in higher‑education or research‑center environments is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
Required skills
- Proficiency with office automation software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
- Ability to use manual and automated office equipment.
- Familiarity with digital accessibility standards.

- Salary range $48,138 – $57,766 per year.
