Program Engineer (Japanese OEM Accounts)

About the role

Axalta is looking for a Program Engineer to join its Troy, Michigan facility, handling Japanese OEM accounts. The role executes assigned program and product activities supporting Axalta's business objectives, provides technical expertise to customers and internal teams on product development, processing techniques and complex problem resolution, and coordinates Technology, Marketing, Sales and Operations functions.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development and management of key relationships with customer field, engineering and manufacturing teams within the assigned customer base.
• Act as technical spokesperson to customer design, materials engineering and paint manufacturing groups, and give a voice of customer to Sales, Marketing, Technical and Manufacturing.
• Maintain accurate program data in Salesforce and other Axalta software, deliver technology reviews and reports, and support product quality investigations.
• Support new product launches, technology transfers and customer product approvals.
• Help turn product data into marketing and sales tools, and work with cross-functional teams on VMI requirements and improvements.
• Cultivate collaborative cross-functional relationships and support change initiatives.

Required profile

• Fluent Japanese is a necessity.
• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, engineering or a related applied science preferred.
• At least six years of automotive, chemical or related industry experience, including sales, technical and marketing exposure.
• Coatings background, knowledge of paint formulation and application, and R&D experience are strongly preferred.
• Ability to travel up to 25%.

• Proficiency in MS Office and Salesforce is essential.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, analytical and data-processing skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and lead multi-functional teams.
